Tom comes to visit for 4th of July weekend...

The 4th of July has always been one of the biggest holidays in my family and possibly my favorite. We usually spend the day with family at a cookout where we have lots of competitions and endless fun. This year we were unable to go home due to the fact that Baby Fitz in My Belly 2 is on it's way any day now. We were lucky enough to get a visit from Uncle Tom, my first friend ever and Aidan's godfather. It was really nice to have a taste of home for the weekend! We were also really happy to have Daddy home for the first time in 4 years (gotta love the Army). Daddy had a 4 day which was nice and gave us lots of time to spend together. We spent Friday morning getting the house together and a little doggie rescue for a friend. After lunch it was time for nap and to pick Tom up. Aidan hadn't seen Tom since he was about 10 months old so he wasn't sure who he was at first but quickly became fast friends. We hung out at the house and made some homemade pizza then went to the Independence Day Celebration on post. There were lots of things to do but Aidan mostly wanted to check out the ponies and get a ride. After pony rides we found a place to sit for the fireworks and US Army Signal Corps Band. I think the highlight of the night for Aidan was listening to the band and the end of the fireworks. Aidan is usually a huge fan of fireworks but was really scared this time. He spent the whole time as close to me as possible saying "Mommy Mommy" it was really sad and cute at the same time. He also had to make sure his hat stayed on his head no matter what, some kids have a blanket my kid has a Sox hat :-). The next morning we went down to the Augusta Market to show Tom our big city and to walk around. We remembered Aidan's bathing suit this time so he was able to play in the fountain then we spent a little time at the playground. While at the market we randomly decided to have a cookout and began calling a few friends to come over. Great idea except it made for a pretty hectic afternoon. We pulled it off and everyone seemed to have a great time. Aidan got to play with some friends and we got to entertain on our backporch for the first time. The night ended with drunken debates between Tom and Sean but what would be a visit with those two if they didn't talk politics. Sunday was extremely low key and Tom's last day in town. We spent most of the day playing around the house then went to Patriot's Park to check out their celebration but it proved to be bust. We ended up at the splash pad and Aidan had a blast! After the library it was time to take Tom to the airport. We had a great time and were glad he was willing to make the trip down. Aidan is still talking about Tom and gets excited every time he sees a picture.
